Conscripts may travel free on service journeys under specific Finnish Defence Forces conditions, or use discounted VR train tickets on other eligible journeys.

A conscript service journey may be free in Eko Class and VR commuter traffic when the Finnish Defence Forces conditions are met.

Other conscript journeys

When the free service journey conditions do not apply, conscripts may be eligible for 30% off long-distance single tickets and 50% off VR commuter tickets.

Non-military service

Persons in non-military service have their own rules: service-paid long-distance journeys may be free, otherwise long-distance and commuter discounts may apply.

Documents matter
